When to Ski at The Highlands

Every part of winter brings its own kind of magic:

  • Fresh Powder Days – A skier's dream. Glide through fresh snow and feel like you are in a snow globe.
  • Midweek Magic – Quieter slopes, better lodging rates, and fewer lines. Stay for Slopes After Sundown on Wednesday and Thursday nights for skiing under the lights at just $25.
  • Holiday Skiing – Festive energy, family traditions, and the start of night skiing.
  • Sunny Spring Days – Blue skies, soft snow, and warmer temps — especially great for beginners.

Pro Tip: Bookmark the Mountain Report page and sign up for Snow Reports to get daily updates on conditions.

Explore the Terrain

Whether you are teaching your kids to ski or chasing steeper challenges, The Highlands has the right terrain for every level:

  • Beginners: Start with Camelot 6 — a six-person, high-speed lift that takes you to our mile-long green run, perfect for getting comfortable.
  • Intermediates: Head toward North Peak for scenic views and runs like Floradora or Leslie's Quest.
  • Experts: Test yourself on black diamonds, such as Rob Roy, or explore the wooded glades.

With high-speed upgrades like Camelot 6 and Interconnect Lift, you get more laps, less waiting, and more time together on the snow.

Packing Made Simple: Your Ski Trip Checklist

Don't stress about gear — here is what you really need:

  • Base Layers: Thermal tops + bottoms to stay warm.
  • Socks: Thin merino or synthetic socks (thick ones make boots uncomfortable).
  • Outerwear: Waterproof jacket + pants (or bibs).
  • Gloves/Mittens: Waterproof and insulated.
  • Helmet: For safety + warmth (rentable onsite).
  • Extras: Goggles, neck warmer, sunscreen, and lip balm.

No gear? No problem. Our rental shop has skis, snowboards, boots, and helmets for toddlers through adults — all professionally fitted. You can also stop by Boyne Country Sports at The Highlands to pick up gear and essentials.
