The Highlands 23/24 Athlete: Zoe Kalapos, Olympian

Introducing Zoe Kalapos The Highlands and Boyne Country Sports are sponsoring Zoe Kalapos, a talented snowboarder hailing from northern Michigan, as she continues her journey to represent the U.S. at the Winter Olympics.

Born and raised in Michigan, snowsports has always been second nature. In 1998, Zoe's father introduced her to the sport at age five by purchasing her first snowboard from the Boyne Country Sports shop at The Highlands. It quickly set the stage for a lifelong passion. With his unwavering support and encouragement, her father crafted a mini backyard park for her and her brother, which they dubbed "Mt. Kalapos."

At age 10, Zoe began competing in USASA events at northern Michigan resorts. With halfpipe being her bread and butter, her dedication and skill were recognized, propelling her to compete in the USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain, CO. Zoe, and her family then relocated to Avon, CO, where she would further her training and education at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy. Throughout her high school years, she continued to travel nationally and internationally to compete in women's halfpipe events and later competed with the U.S. Snowboard Team at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

With Zoe's connection to northern Michigan and learning to ski at The Highlands, we are excited to support local talent and hope to inspire future generations of athletes.
