Take a walk to the Cross-Country Center and grab some snowshoes for a solo jog or a group jaunt through snow-frosted pine forests. There is something so peaceful about taking in the sights and slowly meandering around. Breathe deeply, and experience the aroma of mature spruce and pine on the chilled winter air.

Afternoon Fun with Rides and Soaring Through the Sky

There is something about the winter season that begs for snowy horseback rides with a giant mug of hot cocoa afterward. Whether a cozy, romantic outing or a family moment, riding through the woodlands on horseback is a favorite at The Highlands.

Soaring through the sky is fun every season, but there is something special about seeing the landscape covered in snow while zipping through the air. The Enchanted Trail is a magical moment filled with twinkling lights, a cozy yurt to grab a drink or two, and perfect moments for family photos. This unique winter experience is an approximately one-and-a-half-mile roundtrip walk along a beautifully lit winter trail through the woods. You will feel like a child again experiencing the charm of lights dancing across freshly fallen snow.

Imagine a sleigh ride up the mountain, a cozy bonfire at sunset, and a candlelight dinner. The Aonach Mor Moonlight Dinner is the perfect romantic evening experience to finish the day. Set atop North Peak in a cozy cabin illuminated as a live acoustic guitarist strums your favorite tunes, this memorable experience is unlike any other in northern Michigan.
